Aaron,
I admire your persistence! Keep trying, Inkscape is worth the effort. :]

Up spake Aaron Moore: > Well, I have just tried to install gtk+2-devel, but yast is now > telling me I need to install gtk+2 = 2.1.0 and gtk-doc-common. > As the error I got trying to install gtk+2 was that I need to > install gtk+2 devel I am completely confused. The gtk2 and gtk2-devel packages are built from a single source. They need to be the same version. Since you installed gtk2, a newer version (2.1.0) has been released. gtk2-devel will not install unless gtk2 is ALSO at the current version. You need to upgrade the gtk2 package. Note that most Linux distros, including SuSE, should resolve these problems for you. I suspect you haven't set up your update repositories correctly; to fix this you should find a local Linux guru and get her to have a look at it. PS: Two more hints. 1) Replies go at the *bottom* of the message. 2) Your mailer is not setting the In-Reply-To header field correctly, preventing accurate threading on my end. -- -trent I wish there was a knob on the TV to turn up the intelligence. There's a knob called `brightness', but it doesn't work. -- Gallagher
Have finally managed to install inkscape but it does not run. When start it up from a shell I get;
inkscape: error while loading shared libraries: /opt/gnome/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_type_class_add_private
Can you explain what this means. I have looked for a download named libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0, but can't find one.
