      File->Inkscape Prefs.->Misc tab.
On a related note.  When I import a picture (tried PNG and BMP) the image size says the correct resolution but the selection size is too small. Inkscape .39

Haven't tried it since everything I did was 72.
I would do just that if I knew how, but I have not seen control for the
resolution of imported bitmaps in the Inkscape Preferences. Can you point me
to it? I have Inkscape 0.39.
