I have a circular graphic that I would like to put text around, and can't seem to figure out how to do this. Any suggestions?
Hi Adam,
Never tried it until now. Worked like a dream as long as the graphic is a vector, not an imported bitmap. I had to highlight both the text box and the graphic with the path, then "text->put on path".

I am not sure if you mean text along a circular path around your graphic or normal text flowed around the circle.
For the former look at the bottom of:

For the latter look at (swap circle/square):

Here is a video tutorial to do exactly what you're talking about.

If for some reason the link doesn't go through, go to youtube and search for Inkscape: Place Text Around a Circle

i would have suggested that link awhile back but didn't want to plug my own video. the sound is a little weak...so turn it up.

Ha, I didn't even realize you where here. Let me thank you now as the videos are where I learned a lot.

glad you have found them useful. they are somewhat "basic" since i have to fit them into the youtube data envelope. in the future i might have to post the more advanced/longer running tutorials on my site. be sure to check out rfquerin's tutorials as well. his accent is much better than mine.
wow! i thought my polish last name was difficult to pronounce. you win.

LOL, It's easier said than read I always say.
As for rfquerin's, I have utilized his as well.

cool. I love video tutorials :) Would be nice if you put them on your side so watching them is much more comfortable since there is no flash version for 64 Bit (and I'm running a pure 64bit system here...)

Speaking of your videos, do you them posted anyplace they can be downloaded? I'd like to download it for later review.

not at the moment but i haven't ruled that out. i have each original video sitting on my external had drive for future use. each video ranges in size from about 30-120mb. there are some things that i would like to re-do before i start hosting my own videos. right at the moment my website, heathenx.org, is just linking to the inkscape howto's on youtube.
as far as collaborating with rfquerin on inkscape tutorials and sharing a website, l i would love to do it but i haven't approached him with anything. i know that he is somewhat of a busy guy in his personal life. i am too actually. i am passionate about inkscape though...so i manage to find time to draw when i can.
you never know what the future holds. maybe at some point in the near future i could manage to make some production quality inkscape tutorials. i think the community needs it...if not by me then someone else.

I've got the larger high-res versions as well. Although they are limited to 800x600 because ffmpeg seems to choke on my machine at anything higher for some reason. I'm swamped at work right now (hence no new screencasts lately) but I'm all for putting the higher quality versions somewhere and sharing them.
I know the ubuntu guys have a site for screencasts but they have to be pretty standardized (which I can understand) but I'm having too much fun creating them with a little flair ;).
