Hello,
If I save the attached SVG file in PDF format I get a bed-quality result as you can see on this picture: http://screencast.com/t/NdZg030ee. How Can I improve the quality of the PDF export? It would be nice to store the same data in the PDF file what is in the SVG.
Thanks, Máté

The pdf generated from your sgv looks great here. (See the attached pdf.)
I do not know whether it matters, but I am using Linux and not MS Windows.

In addition, I would like to indicate that I did not select "convert text to path" while converting from svg to pdf.

um, I just did this conversion using the May 8 version of Inkscape for Win32, and I am not able to reproduce this problem, could you tell us which version of Inkscape you are running, and which OS?
I use the Inkscape 0.46, built April 1 2008 on Windows XP SP2. Now I reinstalled it from http://inkscape.org, but it's still the same version. Where could you find the May 8 version?
I still have the same problem, and as I see, Paul also has it. If I look at the PDF Paul sent I can see the same coarse circles and letters in several pdf viewers. ----- Original Message ----- From: Alvin Penner To: inkscape-user@lists.sourceforge.net Sent: Sunday, May 11, 2008 12:02 AM Subject: Re: [Inkscape-user] Low PDF export quality

here's the pdf file that I got : http://www.nabble.com/file/p17168440/Sokszog_APP.pdf Sokszog_APP.pdf
the Inkscape came from : http://inkscape.modevia.com/win32/?M=D in order to run this you'll need to use a 7-zip decruncher, can't remember where that came from but check out the pdf and see if it looks okay
You are right, I checked, and it’s the fault of Foxit Reader. Sorry for disturbing you about this problem.

I still have the same problem, and as I see, Paul also has it. If I look at the PDF Paul sent I can see the same coarse circles and letters in several pdf viewers.
I uncompressed and opened the PDF Paul sent in a text editor. The PDF contains both curves and lines. ie the curves had not been converted to lines. All the original information that is in the SVG file is in the PDF. This is a problem with the viewer problem.
The viewer will flatten the curves to lots of little lines when rendering. Normally the curves are flattened to lines of no more than one pixel in length so the flattening will not be visible on the display. In your screen shot it looks the curve flattening has been done once at the original size and the same lines have been used when zooming in.
The PDF displays fine in Adobe Reader and evince. I zoomed in on the circles in both viewers and there was no visible flattening.

I think Adrian is right; try to view the pdf file with Acrobat Reader and not with Foxit.
