Hi! I am a new user of Inkscape, and as for now I just have one purpose of this. I want to convert a jpeg-file to a vectorized EPS file? The purpose of this file should be to give the eps-file to a printing company who should create a commersial sign for my small business. Is there anyone of you who can tell me the easiest way to get this eps-file from the existing jpeg-file, if this is possible in Inkscape? Best regards

Have you tried:
* Import the jpg * Trace bitmap * Delete bitmap * Cleanup the vectorized image * Save as EPS
The EPS exporter isn't perfect, but for straightforward stuff like this I would expect it should handle it...
Another option if that doesn't work is to do the first four steps, then save as SVG, and import into another application (like Scribus), and use it's export capabilities.
In any case, let us know how it goes; if there are problems then it'd help to have bug reports for them so folks can work on fixing them. If it _does_ work well, that's good to know too. :-)

I've been very impressed with the tracing, but it'd be super nice to have a checkbox for simplify on the trace dialog. Especially if you're doing color traces with multiple layers - it gets tedious (and sometimes nearly impossible) to simplify each layer of output. And in my experience - simplify once has never produced visible differences in output, and usually at a drastic savings in node count. I'd also be nice to have control over the blur and the colors used in the multipass trace, but that's probably a potrace item.
