...I've been using Inkscape more as I learn more about it... one feature I have not yet learned to use involves Inkscape's saving of drawing settings... when I use the CIRCLE/Ellipse tool this will often "stick" on a setting, giving me only segments of a circle, with bold radii... I've now learned to "fix" this, but only by random messing with the handles, and rebooting.
Is there a menu item, for instance, where we can "draw full circles" only, or something similar ?

On the contextual toolbar there should be a button for "Default" for all of the shape tools.
For the circle/ellipse tool, the button should be labeled "Make whole". Select the broken circle, switch to the circle tool, then click that button. (It's on the second toolbar at the top).
For rectangles, their button is "Not rounded"
Most of the others use "Defaults".
