sUbScRiPtS iN InKsCaPe?
Apologize if there is an all too obvious solution at hand... In trying to use Inkscape to draw (say) chemical formula/s... I cannot find a way to make text into subscripts... usually found in the text menu of (say), (ahem) Adobe Illustrator... am I missing something here?
Thanks much.

Use a smaller font size and kern the individual letter down with the alt+arrow keys combo.

But note that this is only a poor workaround, because you lose all the kerning when you alter the text.
Does anyone know what's so difficult about text markup in inkscape? I mean in Scribus, which also works with svg, subscript, superscript and many other stuff is possible.

I am planning on working on the text tool for GSoC. Sub/superscript is already on the todo list :-). I'll try to make a wiki page soon where you can add your ideas.

That's good news! I'm sorely missing that feature, because I often have to do drawings for physical lectures and papers.

I will support you as much as I can.

No, you're not missing anything. It just hasn't been implemented yet, but one of these days someone will likely start working on this. In the meantime you can follow John Cliff's advice.
