Does anyone know how to creat the red spiral with the continuous gradient in Tavmjong Bah's "A Guide to Inkscape" I took a couple cracks at it last night without much sucess.

oh well, i found this thread ( http://inkscape-forum.andreas-s.net/topic/63181 ), but i can't seem to be able to download the linked file; is it the thread which you were pointing to?
if yes, is there no way in inkscape of stretching a pattern with fill along a path?

Interesting. I wonder if you can do that to a dragon curve http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_curve
thank you very much,
i know the challenge page, i am just interested in how it is done :) in case anyone has the book, could he or she post a brief how-to? as the introduction says, the solutions should be in one of the appendices.
and as far as i know, if it would be possible to apply a _gradient_ along a path (or shape _with_ gradient along path), the problem would be imho solved for the dragon curve also.
