Inkscape on Mac, and WACOM Graphire 4
Hi
I bought a Wacom Graphire 4 classic tablet and I can use it directly on inkscape, as expected, as a normal mouse/pointer. I noticed Inkscape has an 'Input Devices' entry on the File menu, but it says there aren't special input devices available.
Is this usual?
Cheers Alberto

Unfortunately the special functions of your wacom tablet (tilt, pressure, etc.) cannot be used in Inkscape on OS X right now. This is a limitation of the X11 version shipped by Apple which does not include the xinput extension that handles graphic tablets. You can: - try to install another X11 distribution based on Xorg (beware, this is probably a tricky process and check also the presence of the xinput extension before getting your hands dirty) - send a request to Apple asking to include xinput in their X11 product (the more of us do this, the higher the chance Apple takes this into consideration) - regularly check the status of the native port of GTK which is underway there http://developer.imendio.com/projects/gtk-macosx and maybe help (once GTK is independant on X11, Inkscape will be too and if the native port of GTK handles tablets, Inkscape will do)
I am sorry not to have a better answer. I also have a wacom tablet, love Inkscape and cannot use it with my favorite program. Too bad.
