sometimes I find myself locked in a world of guides :-)
I can't find a quick way to remove all guides in drawing (Inkscape 0.46). Can someone help me?

Open the svg file in a text editor. Find all <sodipodi:guide groups, delete, and save.

Doesn't this sound like a good candidate for a simple extension.. Maybe like the one makes arrowheads match the stroke colours?

Okie-doke. I just edited an existing script (one of Hannes Hochreiner's scripts) and I am now able to delete all guides at once. Seems to work pretty well. A little more testing an I'll offer it for download maybe later today. I'll post a link. Also, maybe someone can clean it up for me.
Btw, I am NO python coder. It's likely I cannot troubleshoot. If it works then it works...if not then you're SOL. :)

I've been trying this before, but I can't delete the guide groups, only the guides one by one, which is not faster than deleting them one by one on the screen.

Unfortunately there isn't a way to do this at the moment - but you can control click on a guide to delete them one by one.

I have now have a working extension that will delete all guides at once. Richard Querin and I spent a few minutes on it last night and worked out some bugs. It appears to work great in Linux (Ubuntu 9.04) and WinXP. I am trying to contact Hannes Hochreiner of JessyInk fame since I modified one of his extensions before I post it for download. I want to make sure that I properly credit him for his work. Couldn't have done it with him. ;)
Please sit tight. Hopefully I can get it to you today.
