and see if it's broken for you too?
Any warnings printed on the console? Can you select anything by dragging rubberband around that empty space?

I cannot get the above. I use win2000.

No.

Ah, Yes. It is in there. I pulled it with rubberband and the Fill is set to No Paint, Stroke Paint to RGB 000, Stroke Style to Width 1.25, Pattern to solid line at 0.00.
Looks like the No Paint Fill is doing it. The other examples in the tutorial seem OK.
