can't join nodes in this file
Hi Friends, Attached is a file where I'm having a problem joining nodes. To the right of the large hexagon shape is a smaller hexagon made of disconnected segments. There I've snapped numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 to some nodes, so you know which ones I'm trying to join. I want to join nodes 1 and 2 with a new segment, and likewise, 3 and 4. But I can't seem to join them at all, in any way. None of the nodes of those segments will join to each other. I have no idea what the problem might be. If I draw new segments, they can be joined. But it would be nice if I didn't have to draw them again. (Although that's likely going to be my solution.) Most importantly, is it fixable? But 2nd, why, what's wrong with them?

PS -- Interesting....I had the thought to try Object to Path on them, in case they somehow aren't being recognized as paths. But what they aren't being recognized as, is objects! The status bar says "No objects to convert to path in the selection". That's a new one for me!
They are a product of a path operation....difference, iirc. But that's never caused this problem for me, in the past. Anyway, TA :-)

those are both closed paths, which is the reason why you can't join them. You'll need to break open the path, then join the correct ones and delete those you don't need.

For me it says (in German): No objects selected that could be converted to a path. (Maybe the text was cut off because your window was narrower?)
It says the same for any newly drawn path, so it's probably correct in telling me that a path cannot (needs not ;) ) be converted to a path.

In English it says
<b>No objects</b> to convert to path in the selection.
That's the whole thing from a maximized window. The German version seems more correct. But it seems even more correct to say "Object is already a path".
Well, maybe no one ever sees that anyway. I've never noticed it until now.
