#- First off, what version are you using and what platform is it on?

Sorry, my fault. I'm on Win2k SP4.

Regarding the version, Menu->Help->About Inkscape gives me:

** (Inkscape.exe:280): CRITICAL **: file help.cpp: line 53 (void sp_help_about()): assertion `doc != NULL' failed

Looking at the installer, I have 0.38-1.

Why?

#- but if you are having that much difficulty you can just "import" draw1.svg into draw2.svg.

Didn't know that "import" did that. I always looked at the menu option, but always thought that it was to import from other formats...
