Modifying the opacity of objects inside a group
Dear all,
I want to modify the opacity of objects inside a group. This is for a theme, so I need to do many such operations. Currently, I ungroup, select the objects, modify the opacity, group again, and rename the group. This is time consuming so I would like to go faster by not ungrouping the objects. So I try to enter the group and select the object. Unfortunately, when I do that, I always see the opacity of the objects at 100%, so it seems this is not the real opacity of the object and I cannot increase it.
Do I miss something? What am I doing wrong?
Thank you for your help,
Frédéric
Hi Fredrick,
I just tested 1.0.2 and 1.1/beta. The opacity is correctly set in groups.
What happens is that if a group object has an opacity of 50% and the object inside that group has it's own opacity set to 50%, the resulting opacity will be 25%. The answer is to remove the opacity (or set to 100%) on the group object.

Hi Martin,
Thanks for the explanation. So, if I understand correctly, when one un-group an object, the group is destroyed but the object inherits from the opacity of the group (multiplied by its own), is that right?
I still have a problem when working on a KDE theme. When I change the opacity of the group, it does not have any impact. The only way I found was to un-group, change the opacity and regroup, but that is time-consuming. But that is probably a question for the KDE people...
All the best,
Frédéric
