Hi. I just subscribed to the list, and so forgive me if I'm bringing up a settled topic. :o/
I was just wondering if Inkscape handles plotters. If not, what software (pref. open-source) do you guys use for running your plotters on Windows, Mac, and Linux?
My wife uses a Roland plotter to cut vinyl and flock. Right now, the only app she has is Dr. Stika, which she says is crap. The only other package she knows of is Ultra-something, and it's like a thousand bucks. She manipulates the images in Illustrator and Photoshop, but needs better software to actually run the plotter.
I was hoping that Inkscape supported this functionality, maybe with a plugin or third-party add-on. Is there any hope?
Thank you, Shawn Milo

That's kind of outside of Inkscape's scope.
Your best option is probably to find some way to set it up as a Postscript printer, which Inkscape and other applications could then print to.
But for all I know the interface to the plotter hardware may be very proprietary, which would rule that out unless the plotter's manufacturer provided such a driver.
