Hi,
I've tried to export my work to postscript for production printing. I wanted to make pdf from ps file and email to that agency. My work contains text, a little graphics and three pictures (quite hires). When I run ps2pdf on exported ps file, gs fails:

Inkscape is beautiful program but I need to reliable export to pdf. Any ideas?

I too am very interested in PDF export. From the RFEs i have read so are many others.
Gnome-Print supports PDF.
Although I have not tested it yet and didn't realise until very recently Inkscape can be built against Gnome-Print. Gnome-Print no longer has any gnome specific dependencies (although Gnome-Print-UI still has one or two left). You might try using Gnome-Print instead (but I realise this is a tangent and doesn't really answer your question).
As I recently mentioned to the developers the CVS version of Gnome-Print has an experimental SVG backend.
I would very much like the developers to consider enabling Gnome-Print by default if possible, without making Inkscape strictly depend on it. This would give a much more user friendly approach and would help development and use of standard libraries.

On way that I've created PDFs is to import the SVG graphics into Scribus. They're SVG import isn't perfect though, but their PDF output is really good (better than ps2pdf IMHO). It might work for smaller cases.

PS - Can you put the SVG file you sent and a description in the bug database. Our PS out isn't great right now - we're definitely interested in making it better.
