By default, the rulers on an Inkscape document have an origin in the lower-left hand corner. Is there a setting or pref or config line I can change to move the origin to the upper left-hand corner?

SVG also has its origin in the upper-right corner. Inkscape's ruler origin should simply be changed (never mind making it a preference), but there's a lot of architectural work to do to accomplish it in Inkscape.

I think you meant to say "upper-left corner" for SVG's coordinate system origin?
