Good day.
Using inkscape about to finish a drawing I get a screen that say INKSCAPE HAS STOPED WORKING.
I am fairly new to the program and enjoying it a lot, I have still got to learn a lot about the use but have made a lot of drawings that really impressed me.
Another point how do you upgrade inkscape I can't seem to find it.
I am running Windows 7 Professional and have seen that it is not on your list for compatible programs, could this be a problem
I use to run on XP Professional with no problems at all and that was before the 4.8 upgrade.
Hope you can help as I am trying to convince a lot of Corel users that this is the ultimate program to use.
KInd regards.
Krappies.

Hi,
Can you attach an image or screenshot of the screen you have seen? do you think is a Windows message more than a Inkscape message?
How much RAM does your system have? and Graphic card?
What were you doing at the moment the screen appeared? Like, exporting a bitmap or executing a plugin,...
About the upgrading, it doesn't upgrade by itself, you will have to go to Inkscape.org and download a new version for your system if its available.
Salut, Néstor

Salut Nestor. RAM I have 2gig. At the time I was busy filling in colour, I will take a screen shot next time it happen. My laptop is the Compaq nx 7300 and about 4 years old I do believe the graphic card should be ok as it was ok for the older version of inkscape. It is difficult to tell now if it was a inkscape or windows message it just flashed on and was gone before I had a good look at it. Will do the upgrade thing thank you very much. Will keep you posted on the happenings. Thanks for your support.

I am not a developer myself, but in my opinion they may need more information :)
Version of Inkscape, you can see your build at menu Help > About.
When did it happened? was it with the same file? or the same tool?
Try to crash Inkscape on purpose and write down the steps you made.
If you can do that I can help you fill a bug report for Inkscape developers in case they can fix it for next release :)
Think about it as if you have a car and it stops. When you go to the repair shop they will ask you everything to ask looking for the source of your problem, instead of revising every piece of the car.
salut.

Shalom Nestor.
A car I can take to a guy and tell him how to repair it to the finest detail, that would be easy. I am not a IT fundi this make it more difficult but I will try. Attached are 2 screens that is new ones I have not seen before, the file I am working on is very small compare to another one that I have been working on for almost a year with no problems. So ram cannot be the problem, this one did not give the previous messages it just stopped. Will try again for more info. Regards. Krappies.

If we are to have any clue as to what the problem is we need to know what you where doing when Inkscape crashed. Ideally formulated in a sequence of steps that we can use to reproduce the problem. For example: - Open this document. - Select that shape. - Click fill/stroke button on the toolbar. - Crash. (Obviously this should include the file that causes the problem, if it is something that shouldn't become public and you are unable to make a simpler test file that shows the problem you can mail it to me personally and I'll take a look.)
The point is that if I can reproduce the problem I can debug it (well, it's not always that simple, but without being able to reproduce the problem it becomes pure guesswork).
Hi Nestor or Jasper. This is the file I have been working on, I was busy filling in detail as you can see on the previous images using "edit by nodes and filling tools only. Also I have included a other file I have been working on over the months with no problems, this one is for when I have nothing else to do "keeps me busy" Thanks for your support Krappies.
