White overlap in glyphs

Hi,
I found that with some fonts, Inkscape fills parts of letters with white, not black. (With default colour settings.)
For example, using the Summersby font:
http://packages.debian.org/ttf-summersby
I found that the letter X has a white bit where the two lines meet. It goes away if I convert it to paths, but sometimes I'd rather not do that.
-----
Most fonts don't show this behaviour, but UnFonts (one of the major free software fonts for the Korean language) do. Could this be a bug? Would it be a bug with Inkscape or the fonts?
Cheers, Kyungjoon Lee
