Help my "fill and stroke" dialog is gone!!!

Please help. I installed the version 0.43, everything worked and then fill and stroke was gone, no matter what. I also installed 0.44 and the same thing.
On my other machine it works just fine. What should I do, I really want to use Inkscape...

First, it would help if you could tell us your OS.
Second, try deleting the preferences.xml file in your Inkscape profile directory.
