Hi,
I just compared results of inkscape (0.43-4 Debian) with scribus (1.3.3-1) and found differences in Text kerning.
E.g. the word "Test" in Arial is rendered with kerning in inkscape (the e is slightly moved towards the T), while with inkscape (and rsvg) there is no kerning (Bounding boxes of T and e do not overlap).
Is this a general property of SVG images to not have kerning?
regards Hadmut

They do overlap for me in Inkscape, with both Arial and Bitstream Vera (and most other fonts too).

You're probably not using the same version of Pango.

Not for me, either in Linux or Windows... no kern pairs working.

Can you post a screenshot demonstrating this?

Here's an SVG file showing some kerning from Windows XP and Inkscape .43-2. Within Inkscape none shows, but here, reading the SVG file with MS IE some does show.

Thanks, but I can say only what I have just said to Hadmut. Your SVG shows with proper kerning on my system.

Thanks... I tried Scribus on FC5 and it pair-kerns fine... I know I have Pango installed, 1.10.4. Will experiment some more and let you know if I find anything of interest, anything that might help.
