I took a look at your file. WOW... what's with those crazy shapes made up of... even more crazy shapes? :~P

Before you do your cloning, you need to simplify the two shapes. I've come up with 3 options that might suit your needs...

1)Simply redraw the outlines of your two shapes using a small number of nodes.

2)Export the two objects as images. Import the images. Run the Trace Bitmap feature.

3) Use the "Paint Bucket" feature on the existing objects. I ran this option on your two objects and the results were pretty good.

One of these three options should work well for you.
