Need help using Render Gears tool

Hi,
I've been using a r15987 svn build on Windows. What i've done is:
1. Use Bezier tool to draw some straight lines with a few 90(more or less) degree turns. 2. Convert to path. 3. Effects --> Render --> Gear
So far, it only creates one "gear" from the selected set of path. I may be doing it wrong, if so, how should I use the gears tool?

I don't know about the Gears extension (called Effects in the menu) Did you try LPE's? There is a nice live-gear-thingie. See examples/live-path-effect-gears.svg. http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Image:Lpe-gears.png

Hi,
That was what I was planning to do, thanks. Seems I've been using the wrong tool.
This may sound silly but where is the live-path-effects in the drop down menus? I can't find it. I can only access it via CTRL+SHFT+7.

The "Effect" menu item is very confusing, since it refers to the extensions in the 'extensions' directory. The Live Path Effects dialog can be found at the bottom of the "Path" menu.
Let me know if you find troubles with the gears LPE !

Thanks Johan, I've found it. It works like a charm after some trying.
