Re: [Inkscape-user] Preserving resolution of embedded bitmaps
Can't you tell in Inkscape Preferences to scale as 300dpi and not 72? Haven't tried it since everything I did was 72.

I have a high-resolution bitmap (300dpi JPEG) that I want to insert into an inkscape drawing. However, there is no obvious way to specify the resolution of the image when inserting it, so inkscape scales it such that the image has enormous dimensions and the bitmap's pixels are the same size as screen pixels --- suboptimal. Scaling it works, though it is a bit fiddly to scale the bitmap get back the original size and resolution. I am also worried that when I print the image of a postscript printer whose resolution is, say, 300 dpi, that there will be artifacts in the output from the printer rasterzing the bitmap from 299.99 dpi to its phusical resolution.
Can anyone suggest a good method to handle this situation?
