i've been finally got inkscape-20060607-0100 compiled on ubuntu 6.06 amd64. i was using apt-get to sort the dependencies and i've probably installed a load of stuff i don't need. this has been a fairly long and painful process because i'm on dialup.

what i'm thinking of doing is getting all the debs from /var/cache/apt/archive and building myself a mini repository. i can then do a fresh install on a different partion and go through the process again and work out which packages are actually needed.

from this a single apt-get install command could be worked out that would sort all the dependencies with the minimum of downloading.
