I want to use Inkscape to draw some hex-maps and the axonomgrid is perfect for this except I want it rotated 90 degrees. Is the a way to do this, or better yet, rotate the entire page?
well you can just group the whole set and then rotate it 90deg

Confusion is the first step of understanding.
Programming is as much about organization and communication as it is about coding.
The secret to great software: Fail early & often.
Eliminate software piracy: use only FLOSS.

But I would have to draw it sideways first. It would be better if I can rotate the view.

I too wish Inkscape's canvas could rotate around. Until that happens, try this: 1. Start a group - group a rectangle for e.g. 2. Step into it and start your drawing. Just do a few lines. 3. Step out and make a clone of that group. 4. Move the clone to one side. Rotate it as you need it. 5. Open another window. View menu, someplace. Arrange the two inskcapes as you need. 6. Then you can work in one (ok, not at the right angle) and watch the rotated clone as you go.
At least it's 50% of the way there ;)
