Re: [Inkscape-user] Saving .SVG Files As PDFs
Dear SourceForge,
Having created 3 .SVG files in InkScape and saved them as PDF Output files, I've opened the PDFs in InkScape and they appear and display just fine.
However, when opening those same PDFs in Adobe Acrobat Reader 8, I see that the graphics I created now show I disjointed and out of position. How is this so? What happened on my saving each file as PDF Output to cause those effects?
How will this situation be resolved so that all my vector graphics all display in Acrobat EXACTLY as I had designed?
Please let me knonw, ASAP, as I need to need someone 3 PDFs soon.
Regards,
Dean Clarke

You may get better results of you play with ps or eps from Inkscape and then use Scribus (if you are on Gnu/Linux) to open and save to PDF.
Scribus is also pretty good on Win32 and does commercial quality PDFs. If using Windows, you may also want to try EMF as an intermediate format between Inkscape and other programs like Scribus. EPS should be fine, but isn't as widely used on Windows.
Could you pls try to save with the inkscape_0.46-pre3 ?
If the problem persists pls provide the svg so that we can see in detail what is your problem.
Thx. Adib ---

I am a crafter with the Personal die cutting machine. I was excited to see the new pdf import, since a lot of paper piecing patterns are in this format. I can get the files to give me nice paths with all the nodes and I can adjust them an everything looks good until I to to either save as a DXF, or export as EPS Format, then all the paths just are overlayed upon each other, and none of the paths are grouped, so I cannot move them off each other, this makes the output totally useless.
Is there anyone I can send examples of what I am talking about, so it may be fixed in the future. I am running Inkscape 0.45+0.46pre3+devel, built Mar 8 2008.
Thanks Bibi Morris

You may need to use Paths -> Union (Ctrl & +) to combine several paths into one single path, or Paths -> Difference (Ctrl & -) can do the same with white over black to take the white path out of the black path resulting in one new path.

Note, if you use Difference, you can only do a difference with two paths at once. If there are several paths you want to take away from one other path, select them first and do union, then select the other path and do difference.
