Creating Outlines of Strokes Like in Illustrator
In illustrator you can create outlines for text instead of stroking it, how do you do this in inkscape. Well actually you stroke the text, but then you can create an outline of the stroke which becomes an object itself is this possible.

If I understood you well: Write text. Remove fill, stroke it. Path > Stroke to path. If you want all letters to become separate objects Write text. Remove fill, stroke it. Path > Object to path. Path > Break appart. Path > Stroke to path You'll probably need to change the aspect of the line caps to have the lines join correctly, depending on you font.
I hope that helps.
