[STATUS] devanagari w/ today's 0.39 autopackage

Inkscape no longer crashes, but the glyphs are still not exactly correct. It is funny: most of the ligatures are applied correctly yet some are not. I tried with both raghu.ttf and gargi.ttf.
I'm using pango 1.4.0-4 (debian).
What more details can I provide?

Create some screenshots displaying the behavior (be sure to mark the images up with what they *should* look like, for people unfamliar with the language). Create a bug report with this attached. Make sure to indicate the font, version of pango, exact version of Inkscape, and the distro you're using, as you have done above.
This might not get fixed for this release, since we're down to the last minute and focusing more on major issues like build problems. But get it in, and it will get fixed eventually.
Thanks, Bryce

I've already done this, based on the example image he posted to the mailing list, when we first started to address the bug.
Josh -- does the rendering in the text entry field of the "Text and Font" dialog (at the top) match the preview panel (at the bottom)?
If the two renderings match, then we have done all we can, and any remaining ligature issues are bugs in the Pango devanagari shaper.

Yes, the rendering of the preview and actual text are matching.

This seems believable to me. I know pango can work. The problem is likely due to the mixture of versions I have installed.
