duplicate in the same Z level?
Can I duplicate an object in Inkscape while keeping it in the same Z level as the original? I mean, without having it created in front of all other objects.

I'm afraid it's not possible directly. But you can do this via grouping:
- select the object
- group it with itself (ctrl+g)
- select it inside group (with ctrl)
- ctrl+d
- select group
- ungroup
Now you have two copies at the same z-order.
Or, you can write a simple python extension that would duplicate selected objects at the same z-order, and even assign it to ctrl+d. It will just be slower than the regular duplicate, and will lose selection, but otherwise it will work.
