Re: Inkscape Users Digest, Vol 34, Issue 4
Yes the export dialog is mis-behaving. BTW my file folders come up very slowly in Ubuntu as well which is why I was afraid of other problems.
Inkscape 1.2 (56b05e47e7, 2022-06-09, custom)
GLib version: 2.72.1 GTK version: 3.24.33 glibmm version: 2.66.2 gtkmm version: 3.24.5 libxml2 version: 2.9.13 libxslt version: 1.1.34 Cairo version: 1.16.0 Pango version: 1.50.6 HarfBuzz version: 2.7.4
OS version: Ubuntu Core 22
Last week the Inkscape version changed to 1.2 so I guess that was snap. I am a casual Ubuntu user, so I don't understand your advice on fixing it.

This then shows in the export file field with the entered file name at the end.
This morning a file saved correctly, later this problem occered and the files show in the correct directory but look like ".xdp_<file name>.ZDP701.
After my last attempts to correct the directory in the file field of the export window, the files dont even show in the directory or in the Ubuntu "Recent" directory, but exist in the /run... directory.
Is this an Inkscape problem, or do I have a rootkit, or both, or something else??

how did you install Inkscape? Which operating system version are you using? If you don't know, please share the output of 'which inkscape'.
Do I understand correctly that this is about the Export dialog feature misbehaving?
My guess is that you're using the snap, on an older Ubuntu version.
If this is correct, my advice to fix this is to use the AppImage instead, or to check whether the ppa has Inkscape 1.2 for your Ubuntu version.
