Thanks all for info on the SVG viewer topic. It never was the most convenient thing about SVGs (and anyway not Inkscape's fault) so I sort of did with it.
I added a new section in the FAQ based on the comments here - a very constructive thread for all of us. Please bring your additional comments on the specific viewer you use.

Thanks for doing that. Perhaps someone with some clout could head over to inkscape-dev and get one of the boffins to add thumbs and folder browsing to inkview? If I tried to write it I'd still be here a year from now trying to get the code to compile :)

About a year ago, I posted a feature request about Inkview. http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1511974&gro...
Since then, looks like none of the devellopers had the time to work on it... It would be cool to have an SVG collection browser (with thumbnails view, next/previous buttons, zooming and panning).
AFAIK, in Inkview someone was beginning this implementation, because there is a non working UI (open an SVG in Inkview, and press ENTER, a small window with buttons should appear...)
Why has this work been stopped?

As mentioned on the Inkscape wiki (see below), I use the http://www.examotion.com/ Renesis player on Windows XP and I love it. It give thumbnails just like any other image. Great stuff.
