Hello everybody,
Not sure how to explain this in english : I'd like to put text around a globe, so would like to be able to have a text box that would fit the curve of the globe. Any idea how to do that in inkscape ? Haven't found anything.
Thank you very much.
Cheers, Sylvain, France

Make a curved line the shape of the path of the text, then type your text in a normal box shaped text-box. Select both of those, then in the "Text" menu (I think that's what it's called) select "put text on path".
I'm not in front of Inkscape at the moment, so my naming might be off a bit, but that's the way to do it. :-)

I think the original poster want something else, more like "map to sphere" from Gimp and i don't think this is easily doable in Inkscape.
I would be tempted to do this manually: create the text and map to sphere in Gimp, import the bitmap in Inkscape and manually trace over it. Another way would be to map text to sphere in Gimp, select the result, transform the selection to path, export the path as SVG from Gimp and import it in Inkscape.

Ah, I see. I was thinking of text wrapping a globe like the equator, rather than filling the globe in a sphere shaped.
