Is there a way to set up the latest version of Inkscape with all the libraries it needs on a distribution that doesn't yet support Cairo without upgrading to Cairo system-wide?

Xandros 4 doesn't support Cairo, and you can't install Cairo without nuking all the Xandros-specific stuff. I'm running Inkscape just fine on my Kubuntu machine but would like to run it on my Xandros machine as well...

... so does anyone know if it's possible to set up an environment *with* Cairo that Inkscape can use without nuking the standard environment that doesn't know what to do with it?
