Could the alt modifier key not be hardcoded for that function, i.e. customizable as already done for some other functions?
Reason: the alt key is used for accented characters on a Mac, hence not usable as a modifier for people with native languages using those accented characters. This leads to impossibility to use the letter spacing function.

Eventually I think yes, though currently they are not customizable. In the short term we should add a control to the text toolbar so that it's at least possible to do with a mouse.

Yes, I saw it in the code, that's why I asked for it eventually.

That would be perfect too, goal is that the function be usable.

Yes.
That gets to be a bit tricky, what with all the platforms and locales involved.
Rest assured that it is a targeted correction, as I'm also on Mac's and I'm strongest on UI fixups.
Once it gets underway, we'll probably need to ask for wide participation in testing, as that really helps on something like this.
