Converting the movement and change of an object into a smooth animation
People,
I have put a note on the developer list for a more difficult problem but I wonder if there is a solution to a simpler bit of the puzzle:
Say I have a first drawing with a short, vertical, straight line and I drag it into a long, horizontal, straight line and save it is a second drawing ie it would be nice if I can have an initial object and a moved / changed object and a plugin or an external program that will be able to smoothly animate the change from the first drawing to the second - is that possible?
I had a look at some of the animation plugins but it is not clear to me that they will do what I want.
Thanks,
Phil.
Hi Phil,
Brynn has created a whole page about animation on our website - maybe you'll find some info you can use there?

I have been through that page pretty thoroughly and didn't find _exactly_ what I wanted but found stuff that _could_ do what I wanted albeit a lot more slowly . . I think this process should be able to be automated:

and output be to a sequence of SVG files or an animated SVG rather than PNG frames, or else, like I was trying to describe before, a screen / video capture of the transition of the object from one form to the other as a plugin to Inkscape:
Thanks,
Phil.

OK, I see I can use Inkscape's "Interpolation" to do a bit of what I want and OpenShot lets me use SVG "frames", so is it possible to script the interpolation process so that the individual, intermediate objects get written to separate SVG files somehow? I can do this manually by massaging the current interpolated SVG file but just being able to do:
Interpolate -> Write to separate files
would save a LOT of time . .
Any possibilities?
Thanks,
Phil.

Oops. Sorry, I saw the message on the dev list first, and replied with the same link, before I saw this reply.
