problem to install on Win98
Hi list,
I am trying to install the new release of inkscape on Win98 but see what occurs.
Please tell me what is wrong.
Sincerely...
Unfortunately, Inkscape 0.42 is the last supported version on the win9x/me platforms. Inkscape 0.43 and newer do not work on them. The incompatibility is actually not one of our own, but unfortunately is in the GTK toolkit that we use. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Hi list,

Due to changes in GTK it is not longer available for Windows 9x variants.
The decision to use the newer version of GTK was not taken lightly as some of the Inkscape developers use Windows 9x too but to keep moving Inkscape required bug fixes in the newer version of GTK.
I'm not sure what else I can recommend but to stick with the previous version of Inkscape or perhaps encourage you ot try running Inkscape on Linux or BSD instead. Perhaps others have better suggestions?
Sorry about that but the resources just are not available to maintain Inkscape on Windows 9x even though quite a few people really wish we could. Perhaps if more developers came forward there might be more which could be done but it seems unlikely. I really wish there was something more helpful I could suggest.
