I am new to Inkscape for MAC but trying to learn so I can use it on SainSmart Genmitsu CNC 3018-pro that I am also new at. I see it does trace your image so after you click update do you click ok then click the x in the right-hand corner? After that you will need to more the newly created trace over and delete the original image to continue. Let me know if this helps. I am having problems getting inkscape to generate the G-code, it will create the file but the file is empty.
