I'm still using 0801181659 snapshot and I'm using the live path effects. Where have the settings for the path effects been moved to? I add an affect (test all three), but the options/pattern paste button/etc is no longer there, just a 'Remove' button. Is there some menu command to open the path effect settings for the specific effect (path along path in this case)?

Nevermind this. I notice that if two documents windows are opened (even if they are both for the same document), that only one of the windows (the first one) correctly shows the path effects dialog. Even though it is docked to document 1, it still follows the current document and shows document 2 settings as well.
I think one idea to avoid this would be to open multiple documents/views in the same window as tabs instead of mutiple windows. Then only one 'path effects' dialog could be shown, docked to that window or floating if the user chooses, even when docked and it would still 'follow' the active document, but would prevent the confusion of having it in two windows but only working properly in one.
I've submitted this to Launchpad bug reports.

This was fixed a couple of days ago, and I cannot reproduce it using 0801181659 snapshot. Did you restart Inkscape when setting the preference to docked dialogs?
