inkscape .44 paths problems
+ several new features in the Inkscape .44 seem not to be working for me ?
The two I was experimenting with were in the new paths submenu... ...one of these "flatten bezier"... the other one was "add nodes"... both of these seem to be asking for an object converted to a path. So, I used Object to Path for a bezier curve, and a straight line... now, supposedly, I have two paths to work with... but I cannot flatten the bezier... and cannot add nodes to the straight line... not by clicking on them... not by selecting them, and clicking the function... after a while, I gave up :-) How does one work with these new functions ? Possibly, they are just on the menu, but not working yet ?

...accidentally I have now managed to get all these new .44 functions working... they were, after loading Inkscape .44 the first time, "dead" but listed on menu.
Everything now functions as expected... add nodes... straighten bezier... etcetera... all from the modify paths menu... very nice !!
Wish I could offer an explanation... I did load several other programs in the interim, so perhaps Inkscape was missing a library from one of those ?

Perhaps you had an old ~/.inkscape/menu.xml file? Sometimes I find that removing my ~/.inkscape/ directory helps to get new inkscape versions working properly.
