disappearing gradients when moving/scaling
Gradients work fine. However when they are moved or scaled, they disappear. I see nothing on the bug tracker about this.
The gradient stop (colors/alpha) information is still available with the Stroke and Fill. The gradient control bars are gone.
For an example, there's an SVG image file at www2.vaultechnology.com/CGS/TotemFish.html
Thanks for an addictive application!

You just have the "transform gradients" button toggled off in the selector toolbar. That's the mode in which transforming an object does not affect the gradients - they stay in the original place. Toggle it back on and it will work as you expect.

Any ideas for reducing this problem? It's becoming a huge FAQ because people toggle it absent-mindedly and then don't remember doing it because they don't think it did anything. I don't really have a better UI idea than what we currently have, though...

I wonder if having the gradient lines visible in select mode would help people self-diagnose this problem. Users would then see that the gradients are still there, but haven't been scale for example.
One drawback of this: the extra lines would add complexity to select mode.
Another idea would be to remove this option (or hide it). While I've used the other scaling options (especially line width) I've always kept gradient scaling on. Of course, if there are lots of people who (intentionally) toggle gradient scaling on and off, removing this option would be a bad idea.
One more thing (probably the most important):
The scaled object preview (while the mouse is still held down) is misleading. Even with gradient scaling turned off, the preview scales the gradient (and then the mysteriously disappearing after you release the mouse button).
This behavior should probably be considered a bug.
