OT: Open Source Graphics Volunteers at SCALE 10x
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1
Hello,
SCALE, the Southern California Linux Expo, is currently planning for our 10th annual event which will take place in January 2012. We are currently looking for volunteers who might be interested in helping with creating our printed conference program guide and other materials. A few of our past presenters on Inkscape suggested posting to this list.
Unfortunately, one of SCALE's dirty secrets is that many of our printed materials have been created with InDesign and other proprietary software rather than free software the past few years. Being an event focused on free software and free culture, we would like to change this. Almost everything else about SCALE is done with free or open-source software. So this year we would like to move to free software like Inkscape, Scribus, etc to create our program guide, signs, and other printed materials as well.
SCALE draws about 2,000 attendees annually to LA, with each attendee receiving a copy of these printed materials.
If you are interested in helping out with SCALE or the SCALE Program guide, please send us an email at ilan at socallinuxexpo.org.
We appreciate any tips and/or help you might be able to provide.
Regards, Ilan
PS On a similar we have also been running a contest for this year's logo. The contest ends friday with the winner receiving a flight/hotel stay to LA for SCALE. Details available at: http://www.socallinuxexpo.org/blog/design-logo-scale-10x-win-trip-la-0
