Dear All,
Does Inkscape have an autosave feature? I thought not, but searching finds some oblique references to such a thing. Generally I have found Inkscape reliable enough that autosave is not necessary, but I've just lost about 40 minutes work with this message:
The application 'inkscape' lost its connection to the display :0.0; most likely the X server was shut down or you killed/destroyed the application.
Any idea what's going on there? It could be that the fault is with the X server, which suggests that Inkscape needs autosave even if it is itself bug-free!
One of the search results for "inkscape autosave" mentions something about autosave in response to SEGV and similar. Perhaps what's necessary is for an unexpected X server disconnection to be treated in the same way.
Cheers,
Phil.

Look for an SVG file in your home directory.
