Hello,
Why don't you include all the example images from the home page with the Inkscape program?
There should be a help page for these where you can quickly scan through all of them. This would help users to get an idea what Inkscape can do (and how by looking at the files) much faster than lots of help texts.
Regards,

Do you mean the screenshots?

I do not think this is a very good idea, the images in JPEG or PNG format will not compress very well, resulting in an increase of the download size without a big (IMHO) benefit for users (yup, for a lot of people the size of the download matters).

No, I mean the SVGs which are displayed in the screenshots.

Many of them are already in share/examples as well as online (e.g. the tesselations linked from http://inkscape.org/screenshots/index.php?version=0.41). Others are usually too big, or not very representative. However if you want some specific SVGs included, let us know.
