I'm using XP SP2 Inkscape 20080118 snapshop.
When creating a filter effect for an object and connecting the filter to the fill color, activating the effect on the object causes Inkscape to close. I can connect the effect to the source graphic, but not the fill. The problem may also exist in other places of the filter effects.
I sent this to both the user and dev lists because the last time I sent something to the dev list it didn't make it and I got a reply of some problem. It should make it to one of them.

Okay, it seems to only crash when a filter is connected to Fill Paint or Stroke Paint.
Background Alpha, Background Image, Source Alpha, an Source Graphic do not cause Inkscape to crash.

Could you put all this information in a bug report in the bug tracker on Inkscape's sourceforge page? I'm sure one of the developers will pick up on it and get it sorted before the 0.46 release, which is supposed to be happening Real Soon Now.
