We have two new contests going over at deviantART! The first contest is
for an Inkscape calendar (which has a deadline of next Monday, 12/12/05)
and which we will be choosing 12 winning images. The second contest is
for Inkscape T-shirt designs to help fund Inkscape development (which we
have no arbitrary number of winners for, if it's good it'll probably be
accepted as one of many designs).

Only a week due to us wanting to make them available for people to give
as holiday gifts... I don't think it's too short of a time frame due to
people being able to submit existing work. It's a stretch, but is
definitely doable. Should we not worry about the holidays and extend it?

Personally, I think so. I get the sense that a lot of people want to
work on new pieces for it, and the existing selection of Inkscape pieces
on DA seems a bit thin.
I might be interested in venturing a new piece or two myself, but if the
deadline's less than a week away... no way. :/

It's also possible that you might get a lot of promising but unfinished
entries with such a short deadline.
