An article from the Belfast Telegraph highlighting free alternatives mentions Inkscape rather positively.

What does it do? It's a vector graphics editor. [...] What is it undercutting? [Adobe Illustrator] and [CorelDraw] Both have steeper learning curves and larger feature sets than Inkscape.
This is quite high praise, and the article mentions a little more about the strong focus given to usability, contrast it to the drubbing they give the gimp.
