Hi list,
I need to crop this two elements but I can't do that. Could some good soul do dis for me ?
I need to subtract the blank image from the globe image.
My best regards ...
Hi Ezequias,
I think I should explain, what I did.
I need to subtract the blank image from the globe image.
It's extremely simple to do: You klick into the white space with the node-tool(F2) -> you can see the 4 nodes in the angles Now you aktivate the select-tool(F1) -> the whitespace is selected and you can delete it with the "del"-button
Regards, Hago
Thank you ugo, but I don't want to delete the white poligon. I need to crop the globe with the blank rectangle.
Regards Ezequias

Sorry, I misunderstood. I don't think, that real cropping, like with pixel-images is possible in inkscape. But if you place your drawing in a way, that the border of the page cuts the drawing, the part outside of the page will not be shown in the viewer.

Ok I understand you, but I need a svg file, not an image file.
Best regards Ezequias

Looking at the e-mails, we may be crossing a few too many language lines here.
I somehow don't have the original files you were looking at, but you can basically perform a crop by taking each individual path and intersecting it with your white polygon. There has been talk several times about allowing group intersections, but I have seen nothing come of it yet (and I haven't grokked the code enough to do it myself).

Depending on your needs, you could also apply a clipping path.

hello ezequias,
i did the cropping for you and i've sent it to your email address.
here's how i did it....
1. i clicked on the globe and ungrouped it with the object-ungroup tool (or shift+ctrl+g) 2. i selected the black circle and transformed it from a stroke to a path with the path-stroke to path tool (or ctrl-alt-c) 3. i did the same with the shadow, which was also a stroke. 4. i clicked on the white box and duplicated it loads of times with the edit-duplicate tool (or ctrl-c). 5. then i selected a path, shift-selected one of the white boxes and cropped it with the path-difference tool ( or ctrl+-) 6. i repeated the above for each path in the svg. 7. i then removed any of the duplicated white boxes.
hope this is useful to you. john michaelson
