i am trying to make an emboss text effect in inkscape.

my current method is to make the text duplicate and offset it, make one black, and one white blur put it on a new layer, and set the layer to lighten, to get the highlight edge. repeat, with white on top, and darken to get the shadow edge

there seems to be an emboss filter option, but that converts to a bitmap.

is there a script of filter that could do the above steps. or is there a simpler way to achieve the effect.
