Hi, it is possible to feed a separate .gtkrc-2 file when starting Inkscape. (see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GTK+ , section 'Themes', and later, the one about icons.) Then you'd still need to find an icon theme that does not contain any Inkscape icons. And after that, I have no idea if it then tries to get them from the fallback theme of the system first, before it gets to try and fetch them from Inkscape, though .... I agree this is super annoying... People even wrote an open letter a couple days ago... (https://stopthemingmy.app/). The good thing is that 1.0 will not have this issue anymore, and for 0.92.5, maybe the load order changes could be backported...?
